This page explains how to permanently delete your Ayaat account and the personal data we hold about you. You can delete your account yourself from inside the app or the website, or request deletion by emailing us at support@ayaatapp.com.
Delete from the Ayaat Android app
- Open the Ayaat app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Tap your profile picture in the top-left of the Home tab.
- Tap Settings in the side drawer.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm in the dialog. Your account is removed immediately.
Delete from the website
- Sign in at ayaatapp.com/dashboard.
- Open Settings from the user menu.
- Choose Delete account and confirm your password.
Request deletion by email
If you can't access your account, email support@ayaatapp.com or use our support form from the same email address registered to the account. We verify ownership and complete the deletion within 7 business days of receipt.
What gets deleted
- Your account record (email, display name, password hash, avatar)
- Your profile information (bio, city, follower / following relationships)
- Your playlists and "liked recitations"
- Your listening history and continue-listening positions
- Any audio recitations you uploaded as a verified reciter
- Your YouTube connection and any pending import jobs
- Push notification tokens associated with your devices
What is retained, and for how long
- Aggregated, anonymized analytics: totals like "X plays of Surah Al-Mulk this month" are kept indefinitely because they no longer identify you after deletion.
- Backup snapshots: our database backups roll off automatically and your data is purged from those backups within 30 days of the deletion request.
- Legally required records: if we are required to keep certain records to comply with applicable law (e.g., DMCA / copyright disputes already in flight at the time of deletion), those specific records are retained only for as long as the law requires and then deleted.
